These are the bears I have designed over the years. My patterns are comprehensive and in each one introduces a new technique, idea or special information. Ginger and Thyme introduces my innovative one piece head which gives a perfect front centre seam each time, Shi Shi, the panda, has a double jointed neck, Elly the elephant has a two piece head hence the pattern can be easily reduced/enlarged without losing the proportion of the head to the body.
Henry has been one of my most popular patterns. He takes 1/12m of mohair (great for scraps). Trace the pattern on to the back of your chosen fabric, double the fabric and machine or hand sew. Pattern price $8.00.Takes a fat 1/8 m of mohair. Pattern price is $8.00.A top selling pattern again using the easy sew method by machine. Upcycle pattern for an old cardi included. Also includes instructions on how to make a simple nod mechanism. Pattern price is $8.00.HERB – 35cm (14in) fully jointed bear – Peppermint’s boyfriend. Price of pattern is $8.00.CORIANDER – 33cms (13in) – a more traditional teddy bear. The pattern sample was made in synthetic fabric but it can be made in either synthetic or mohair fabric. Pattern is $8.00.SNOWFLAKE – 28cms (11in) in length and there is a pattern for a baby seal, ICE (13cms – 5 in) pattern is included. Snowflake is only jointed at the neck, the arms and legs are part of the body pattern. Ideal for younger children to cuddle. Pattern price is $8.00.TALLY – 7.5cm (3in) fully jointed miniature bear in mini fabric with sheen. The pattern has two styles of arms and legs. She has lace trims and beads down her front. Love this pattern. Price is $8.00.EMELIA – 16cm (6.5in) fully jointed small bear in a shorter straight pile mohair. The photo shows every bear takes on its own character with the fabric used, and also the maker. Price is $8.00.THYME – A 35cm (14in) fully jointed bear. The design is based on bears made in the beginning of the 1900’s, aged, one piece head and a pattern for the bonnet included. Price is $8.00.GEORGE – is 60cm tall (24″) and is a long lanky bear and young children’s clothing fits him/her (Georgina) perfectly. Just take the bear with you into Target or KMart when they have a sale and try them on! Over the years this bear has been gifted to many adults and children – especially end of year and special birthdays. He is soft filled with glass pellets and fibrefill to make him poseable. Pattern is $8.00.SHI SHI – the panda – 50cm (19ins). The feature of Shi Shi is his double jointed neck. He also has paws and pads detailed with black suede (unfortunately you can’t see the black on black in the photo). A challenging pattern but worth the time. Pattern is $10.00. ELLY THE ELEPHANT – the pattern has been made for a 26cm (10″) high (sitting) elephant. The feature of this pattern is her 2 piece head with “cheeks” added to give dimension. As it is a two piece head the pattern can be reduced/enlarged with out losing the proportions. It can also be made in a variety of fabrics. Price is $8.00.Elly’s baby! Note the mouth….ELDERBERRY – 20cm (8″) chubby bear with a vest. Another variation on the one piece head pattern. Price is $8.00.EUCALYPT – A koala! – 35cm (14″) sitting. This realistic koala can be made in mohair or faux fur. Price $10.00.BEARLY OLD – 30cm (12″). One of my original designs. If one lays out carefully, Bearly Old and a 6 to 9″ bear can be cut out of a fat quarter metre of fabric. Just check carefully that all pieces are the right way after tracing! This is just a lovely traditional bear. Price $8.00.FATHER CHRISTMAS – a beary small bear 7cm (3″). made in mini sheen fabric with trousers, braces, coat and hat trimmed with fur. Love my mini bears! Price $8.00.BRIONY – a 6cm (2.5″) jointed bear. This fully jointed little bear is made in mini fabric and there is also a pattern for a head brooch. She can made with disc joints or thread jointed. Price is $8.00.EDWARD – the tiniest teddy of them all – 4cms! But don’t be afraid. This only comes in a kit with enough fabric to practice on, make mistakes but still achieve a few bears. The fabric is a 1980’s velour which behaves much better than present day velours and stays flat for sewing. I have devised a surprisingly easy method to make these bears so if you like the achievement of making smaller bears you will have fun with this one.
